Pros might disagree but here goes: - Lighting - the light should create the texture
- Try to get as much detail as you can
- good depth of field - that should isolate the intended object from the background
- set-up a mini studio - black curtain, a column or pedestal to place your object, moveable lamp (pag toys like mine)
- indoor = tripod + long exposure
- outdoor = good lighting + steady hand
